Anemia
Introduction
Anemia is the most common blood condition and
it happens when the blood lacks of red cells or hemoglobin. There are
many types of anemia. these types are different in their cause and treatment.
The most common type is iron deficiency anemia. some types like mild anemia is
developed by pregnancy. However, some types of anemia may happen during life long
health problems.
Symptoms
There are many
symptoms of anemia. the most common symptoms are lack of energy to do daily
activities and fatigue. The National Heart, Lung , and Blood institute ( 2012) point out that some of these are
shortness of breath, dizziness, headache, cold hands and feet, pale skin
and chest pain. Anemia can be diagnosed by physical exams, medical and family histories
and simple blood test.
Causes
Iron deficiency is the main cause of anemia.
It occurs when the body lacks iron. People who do not have enough iron in
their diet, they suffer from this type of anemia , because the body
needs iron and healthy food to make red blood cells and hemoglobin. The

child birth or surgery and high rates of red blood cell destruction.
Treatment
Surgery, supplements and
blood transfusion are the main form of treatment. Supplements. Some people need
surgery to prevent abnormal bleeding and sometimes other surgery to remove the
spleen in relevant cases. Supplements like vitamin b12 injection or pills
monitor the red blood levels and determine how long treatment is needed. This vitamin
is found in some food like eggs, milk, fish, and meat. Other supplements is
needed like folic acid to treat the condition. It is given by intramuscular or
pills for at least 2 or 3 months.
Prevention
To help prevent anemia,
people should follow a healthy life style choices including an iron
rich diet and reduce tea and coffee. The best source of iron are red meat, fish,
lentils, beans and dark leafy vegetables. Other measures are also important
protective factors include increasing vitamin C , because it helps iron
absorption.

To conclude, anemia is a
blood condition that happen when a person dose not have the proper number of
red blood cells. There can be many symptoms like dizziness , and it can be diagnosed
by physical exam and results from test. The most common cause of anemia is iron
deficiency. Treatment involves surgery, supplements and blood transfusion. The most
important way to prevent anemia is to eat iron rich food.
